Raw b-roll of Staff Sgt. Ty Carter and his wife Shannon's press conference on Joint Base Lewis McChord about his selection to receive the Medal of Honor for his actions on October 3rd, 2009. Staff Sgt. Carter will receive the award from President Obama in Washington D.C. on August 26th. Staff Sgt. Carter is currently assigned to the 7th Infantry Division.

Personal note to Staff Sgt Ty Carter -- as one of your 4th Infantry Division bothers in arms, you have nothing to be embarrassed about. I once was told that bravery is not the absence of fear. A brave man is someone who is terrified, but yet performs his duty and doesn't let his brothers down in spite of fear. A soldier hopes that when the battle comes, that such a man as yourself will be at his side. All Medal of Honor recipients know that they accept such an honor and wear it for all of those who have paid the ultimate price. Stand tall, stand proud -- you have nothing to prove and no explaining to do. Hooah!
