Extension Of The Love For Life Food Forest And Establishment Of A New Native Garden At The Front Of The Rental Property In East Bowral - 24th October 2015 to Mid February 2016.

When Building The New East Bowral Development Less Than 20 Years Ago The Top Soil Was Bulldozed Away Leaving A Clay Belt Just Below The Surface Of The Lawn. Re-Creating The Humus And Top Soil Quickly Was A Huge Challenge For Us.

The Inoculant Is An Actively Aerated Compost Tea, A Folia Spray Produced From A 3 Month Old Aerobic-Thermal-Compost We Make And Then Brew For A 24hr Period To Breed Beneficial Microbes From Millions Into Billions. This Causes The Uptake Of Nutrients Through The Foliage & Rootzone Creating A Powerful Symbiotic Relationship With Microbes. It Microbially Reconstructs Degraded Soils By Reactivating The Soil Life, Improving Structure, Consuming Damaging Pathogens Harmful To Man/Nature, Improving Water Retention & Plant Immune Systems.

Infrastructure Created:

New Garden Bed And Storage Shed To The West/Left Of The House. This Was Filled With Old Soil And Soil Left From The Creation Of A Drainage Seeper System Starting Behind The Gate And Going Under The BedsTo The Front Of The Property And Two Year Old Wood Chip That Had Been Left To Rot And Was Full Of Mycellium Fungus. To This We Added Compost And Soil.

Garden Edging To Mark Out The Boundaries For The Native Plantings. We Laid Cardboard Down First For Weed Control And Then Piled On The Woodchip. No Soil Was Added And We just Used Compost Around The Plants As We Put Them In As We Didn't Have Enough To Spread It Everywhere.

A Hardwood Arbour With Sandstone Pavers (Donated By Neighbours) beneath. Then Two Sealed, Hopefully Watertight Storage Seating Boxes We Added Around Two Of The Posts Of The Arbour. The Boxes Have Small Soil Beds In Them With Kiwi Fruit That Will Grow Up And Across The Arbour, Blueberries, Lettuces And Violas. Hanging Baskets And Pots Are Planned To Create A Sea Of Colour And Vibrancy.

We Also Put Lattice On The Right Hand Side Of The Property Where We Are Growing The Fejoas (Pineapple Guava), Range Of Berries And Some Native Flowers, As Well As Veges Until The Natives Take Over.
