Extensive description:

More than 3000 runners joined the Freedom Run by the Lake on 21 October 2012 at Laguna Lake in Club Manila East, Taytay, Rizal. Many of the participants, who ran three or 10 kilometers wearing 'i am free from corruption' shirts, were from Philippine government agencies and local government units who support the anti-corruption drive of the Aquino Administration.

"If all of us who are here commit to fighting corruption and to taking care of our environment then we can really be hopeful about experiencing true freedom where the well-being of everyone is secured," said Secretary Neric Acosta, Presidential Adviser for Environmental Protection and General Manager of the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA). The race route included a portion with a view of Laguna Lake, the largest lake in the Philippines. "All our runners got medals that say 'Freedom is a culture and a character.' This is becoming true for the Philippines. More and more Filipinos are building a new culture where they are free from corruption and poverty," said Jules Maaten, Country Director of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF), a German liberal foundation. FNF and LLDA co-organized Freedom Run by the Lake.

"We are proud to have the Freedom Run here. Our town's philosophy is Ikaw at ako maging bahagi ng pagbabago (You and me should be part of change), and it is happening now," said Taytay Mayor Joric Gacula.Singer-songwriter Noel Cabangon serenaded the audience with the new song he wrote for LLDA, Bai ng Laguna. He also sang Ako'y Isang Mabuting Pilipino (I am a good Filipino citizen) before a crowd that pledged with him to be individuals that love their country and that follow rules. Cabangon finally performed Ako'y Malaya (I am free) in a duet with up-and-coming female recording artist Cathy Go. Ako'y Malaya was launched at the first Freedom Run last year in the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, Quezon City.
