Sometimes called 'The Green Mountain Boys,' this is one of the most popular songs about Revolutionary War. The lyrics were taken from a 17 verse poem called 'The Song of the Vermonters, 1779' written by John Greenleaf Whittier in 1828. Ethan Allen was for sixty years given credit for writing it.
