Gardner-Webb University was selected to travel to Washington as part of President Barack Obama's Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge promoting college and university service for the common good.
The Gardner-Webb delegation was composed of GWU President Frank Bonner, coordinator of service learning Susan Manahan and coordinator for community engagement Stephanie Richey. In August, they traveled to the White House for a briefing from the President's Challenge organizers, then visited George Washington University for information sessions about community service.
Each participating school embarks on a year-long service project for people of all religious backgrounds to better their communities.
