A prediction result of Japan's FMD (foot-and-mouth disease) spreading, using a mathematical model, is shown. Red dots are observed cumulative number of cattle; blue curves are the predictions from the last observed dates.

The source data are taken from the Japan Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries from 3/26/2010 to 7/5/2010.

Looking at graph in the final picture, we can see that 10km blocking worked effectively. This means that early detection and early network blocking are crucial.
