Running a cycling team isn't cheap. You've probably seen from all our features that each team has an incredible number of vehicles and lots of highly specialised equipment. Not to mention top riders like Alberto Contador and Chris Froome, and the highly sought-after staff who support them.
Each cycling team has a different set of aims, and this is also reflected in their budget. Some teams, such as Tinkoff-Saxo have a rich backer, others, like Belkin, are run on a purely commercial basis.
In this video, we run through how and why the teams allocate their budget, and we think some of the expenses might surprise you.
The Global Cycling Network puts you in the centre of the action: from the iconic summit of the Stelvio to the epic trails of Fort William, Scotland, everywhere there is pavé or dirt, world-class racing, and pro riders, we will be there bringing you all the action, essential analysis and unparalleled access every week, every month, and every year.
