According to RT America (back in 2008), the pentagon has been planning on adding 20,000 troops to patrol US streets to protect the people in the event of a terror attack or during civil unrest.

Now that it is 2011, we are seeing our police forces acting more and more like the military. At almost every protest now, riot police in masks, head to toe cover, and machine guns show up. They do not identify themselves and they act like robots arresting anyone they can grab. How much longer will we allow this to continue? They are preparing for something.
