Congressman Joe Courtney spoke on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, September 13, 2012 to congratulate UConn basketball coach Jim Calhoun on his retirement. Since taking over the team at the University of Connecticut in 1986, Calhoun led the men's basketball squad to three national championships and made the sport synonymous with UConn. Calhoun's accomplishments earned him induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005 and the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006. Jim Calhoun was a star off the court as well, raising millions to help build the Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center at the UConn Health Center.
