OK so I decided to change the description now in 2012 to kind of reflect the trend of this video. People are split on whether or not this was close to a collision! The details are this I am on the USNS Supply that is currently refueling the USS Vella Gulf on our port side and the USS Shreveport was on our Starboard side and a couple minutes prior to me grabbing the camera. What happened is the broke away pulled forward and then started to drift over and crossed our bow. You can see the wake as it is on our port side. There was nothing we can do and everything was up to them. They increased speed but the problem was they went hard to starboard and that was a mistake they should have got the speed up and then turned.
This was extremely close and we came within approx 40-60 feet of them and although that isn't inches and to most people that isn't close but with these types of vessels and under the circumstances it was very close.
So think of those factors when you watch this video.
