http://www.gitaarles-haarlem.com Live Recording of 'Forget About Today' at the 'Languish Lives' cd-release party on the 15th of February 2009. Location: The Candle Theatre in Haarlem, The Netherlands.

This song describes a meeting I had in Jimmy's Sports Bar in Pomeroy, Ohio with one of the local drunks when I was visiting there, doing a clinic with Kelly Joe Phelps. He mistook me to be Kelly Joe, which led to a curious conversation and a real akward 15 minutes with me denying I was him. Never try to convince a scholar of the bottle.

A few days after said drunk showed up at a concert of Kelly Joe, wich I attended also. Needless to say this lead to an even weirder situation, with the REAL guitar hero getting up on stage. And that was not me.....

Forget about today

The general store on Main Street
´s been boarded up for years
Kathy´s diner closed now
It´s the Taco Bell frontier

Been livin´ off of welfare
Cause the factory closed down
Jobs are few and far between
But I guess I´ll stick around

Come closing time you´ll find me
At Jimmy´s Sports Cafe
Where the only thing I´ll do tomorrow
Is forget about today

I´ll peel the label off a this here Bud
Raise my bottle to your bet
Crumbled coasters on the bar
Going nowhere fast

Guess I should be leavin
But my pickup truck´s a wreck
The Greyhound Bus don´t stop here
There´s only rusty railroad tracks

Come closing time you´ll find me
At the Jimmy´s Sports Cafe
Where the only thing I´ll do tomorrow
Is forget about today

My pace has gotten slower
Soon I will be crawling
But I shuffle when I walk
Sting like a bee
Ali´s got nothing on me

My drunken dreams still scrape the sky
But winter´s drawing near
I´ll be stuck on this here bar stool
Hey buddy wontcha buy me a beer

I´ll end up like one of them mongrel dogs
Givin´ everyone the chills
Howling and singing the boneyard blues
Up on cemetary hill

Come closing time you´ll find me
At the Jimmy´s Sports Cafe
Where the only thing I´ll do tomorrow
Is forget about today
