Kenya officially abandoned the ageing analogue method of broadcasting to embrace the modern digital broadcasting era. The launch of the digital television signal now means that there will be more channels, better picture and sound quality coming to your TV set. While switching on the digital signal, President Mwai Kibaki said the migration would usher Kenya into the league of developed countries in terms of broadcasting technology. In Africa, only South Africa has already migrated from analogue to digital. And as often happens when something new is unveiled, there are host of questions that are lingering in the minds of Kenyans, like do you have to discard your current TV set? Just what do you need to get the digital signal? Does it mean all other broadcasters will now depend on the state broadcaster, KBC, to transmit their signals?
