For residents of Bannur Town, life is a rough ride, courtesy bad roads. The main road from RamaSwamy Channel to Santhemala Circle is in utter bad condition. The Bannur Town residents have many complaints: bumpy and narrow roads, stray dog and garbage menace in the area were a few to mention. But, they fret and fume over craters and potholes in main road. A huge crater is developed amidst the road causing a nightmarish experience to the residents every day, they say. The road has not been asphalted. The residents lament that even patch work of potholes was not taken up at any place. "It is a challenge to drive or ride on this road. The huge crater in the middle of road is hurdle for any oncoming traffic. The potholes make it worse as drivers cannot concentrate at all. I have almost stopped using my two-wheeler since I had a few close encounters here," says Asghar Ali Khan ( Babu), a resident. The KSRTC and Private bus drivers find it very difficult to manoeuvre their buses. Either they have to go extreme end of the road to avoid craters or ignore them. The commuters experience a bumpy ride in route before their destination, mostly State Highway Road Bannur. "Travelling on the M.M. main road is worst experience every day," says Asghar Ali Khan ( Babu) , a resident. "One-and-half year ago, the road was alright. The PWD dug up the road and did not repair it," says Asghar Ali Khan, a resident of the area. The under ground drainage (UGD) lines were laid. But, the road was not re-carpeted, he adds. The absence of proper street lighting in the area ups the Makanahalli of residents. The roads remain envelope in darkness makes it difficult to vehicle users to drive. The Pockets remain drenched in darkness on internal roads. While residents fret and fume over the situation, little has been done by the Corporation, adds another resident. The stray dog menace is adding to the residents' woes. The dogs run loose in the area, posing threat to children.
