On 22 April 2016 the 1 year results of the REVISE-Diabesity research study of Endobarrier treatment were presented at the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD) Spring meeting in Manchester, UK. The study was funded by the charitable arm of ABCD. Because of the success of the study, BBC Midlands Today ran this news item on 11 May 2016.
Shown in the news item are the Chief Investigator of the REVISE-Diabesity study, Dr Bob Ryder, the ABCD research fellow who led the study, Dr Piya Sen Gupta and two patients who received Endobarrier treatment at City Hospital, Birmingham [Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust (SWBH)]. The study was multi-centre between Birmingham, London (Kings College and Guys) and Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The reporter in the news item was Michele Paduano. The news presenter was Mary Rhodes.
