On Friday, July 22nd, 2011, Penn Rail Videos decided to follow the Essex Clipper Dinner Train along the railroad up to the town of Goodspeed (actually Haddam). The engine is (according to CMO J. David Conrad) the oldest operating diesel locomotive in revenue service in the USA. The engine was built by GE in 1937 and is an 80-ton beast. The engine is noisy, loud, and uncomfortable to ride in, making it truly authentic! #0901 will power the train from Essex, along the Connecticut river as the train rumbles northbound. The engine also has a pair of Hancock air whistles; almost exclusive to New Haven locomotives.
