Another $2 Goodwill score, wired up with some toggles, two momentary (normally open) switches and an output jack. This toy originally came with a snap-in book, whose illustrations correspond to different points on the touch pad. There is also a receptacle below the handle where a cartridge can be inserted to change the program for use with a different book.

This is my second attempt with a toy of this type. I found quite a few glitches on the first, but ultimately it wouldn't start again. I thought I'd fried the chip, but some weeks later I got it going again.
