It's a way of teaching proper abdominal bracing out of the bottom while also strengthening the specific muscles that are responsible for it, using resistance.

You will essentially perform the bottom part of dumbell deadlift with your stomach set on top of a barbell in the rack. Your core MUST brace in order to not collapse down over the bar as you're lifting the dumbells, teaching you exactly how and when to do it and building very specific strength. Definitely has the potential to add 20 to 30 lbs to your max deadlift very quickly.
