Willie Poh believes education is the key to 'saving' the world. He has a bone to pick with outdated education systems which kill student interest in learning. He believes that the face of education needs to, and will soon shift drastically in the face of technology, and fully intends to be a driver of that change. As a lecturer he has incorporated experiential learning, contextual examples and alternative learning experiences. He also believes in taking education outside of the classroom, founding a mini hackerspace for his students. A student leader since his university days, he has been involved in a myriad of student organizations ranging from the student press and debating to astronomy.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
