This is a Xena/Gabrielle/Ares/Joxer video set to Florence + The Machine's "Cosmic Love". No matter how much Ares and Joxer loved Xena and Gabrielle, they were always left in the dust. The clips and the song do not belong to me!
Note: This is one of three videos my wife, my friend and I entered into the music video contest at the 2012 Xena convention. I have to get on my soap box for a moment, so if you're not interested, you should stop reading now. Last year our two videos won, and this year none of the three were winners. My main problem is that only about four videos were even shown throughout the three day convention, and there were times that videos should have been played (it was on the schedule), and they weren't. I'm not sure if Creation was trying to save a buck by not showing more videos, but I know we weren't the only ones wondering why our videos weren't good enough to make the cut. When my friend asked about it, he was told, "All the winning videos were played. The rest just went into the trash." I'm not trying to validate the videos themselves. I tend to think they're pretty good, and a lot of time and effort was spent working on them. However, to each their own. All I know is that when my video was played last year, the feeling was magical. It's not about winning a gift certificate. It's about seeing your video up on the big screen, and knowing that at that moment, people who appreciate what you've done are also watching- taking part in the experience that you've helped create. Apparently Creation Entertainment does not share that view. I'm personally upset that I missed out on seeing other people's hard work, and that they missed out on seeing mine. In addition, the three main themes the Creation staff were "looking for" in order to consider videos were: 1) Humorous Videos: My friend Justin's video, "Sunshine Day" is, in my opinion, quite funny 2) Videos that deal with character's relationships: My wife's video, "Cosmic Love", deals with the relationship between Xena, Gabrielle, Ares and Joxer 3) Videos that encompass the entire series: My video, "Xena and Gabrielle: From Beginning to End", has clips of Xena and Gabrielle from every single episode, in order.
This is not meant to be a pity party, and I am so thankful that at least youtube exists, so that others might *hopefully* enjoy these videos. However, after other issues and qualms we had with Creation and their treatment of the fans, this felt like the last straw. We just wanted others to be able to see the videos, and now at least they can.
