Greece: Dozens injured as police and refugees clash on Macedonian border

Refugees clashed with Macedonian police near Idomeni, Sunday, after refugees tried to dismantle the border fence and cross into the Macedonia.

Police fired teargas, rubber bullets, stun grenades and fired water cannons at the refugees, who responded by throwing rocks at officers. During the clashes Macedonian police repeatedly entered Greek territory to fire projectiles at the refugees. Dozens of injuries have been reported from the scene.

SOT, Representative of the Macedonian border police (Macedonian): "You cannot go to any country north from Macedonian, including Macedonia. So, it is not only this border, any other border other than this -you cannot go."

SOT, Representative of Macedonian border police (Macedonian): "We are aware that you are fleeing from the violence but also you should cause violence here neither."

SOT, Refugee, representative of refugees in Idomeni (English): "But the problem is that we cannot control 10,000 people, and we are the same, we are just refugees like them. So, we hope there is a solution to that."
