In honor of all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, BLM presents a tribute to the crew of B-24 Liberator No. 42-7074. On December 19, 1943, the bomber took off from Pocatello Army Air Base in southeastern Idaho for a training mission and never returned. The plane experienced mechanical trouble, crashing in the Idaho desert. Only one member of the nine-man crew survived. In 2015, Marc McDonald of Project Remembrance teamed up with BLM’s Shoshone field office to re-locate the scene of the crash. Learn more: on.doi.gov/1kbKFuV.
