Taylor Swift really knows how to hold a grudge, she jokes about her infamous Kanye interruption at the VMAs in 2009! Hey musical friendly friends welcome back to ClevverMusic. The 2013 MTV Video Music Award nominations were announced yesterday July 17th and Ms. Taylor Swift received two nominations! Swifty's music video "I Knew You Were Trouble" is nominated for "Video of the Year" and "Best Female Video". Hmmm this sounds familiar. Remember in 2009 when Taylor was nominated and won "Best Female Video" for song "You Belong with Me"? Yup, it's coming back to you now. That was the year rapper Kanye West rushed the stage and stole her microphone to declare that Beyoncé should have won the award because "Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time." Kanye received endless backlash for that rude interruption, and scarred Taylor seems to finally be able to joke about it. After hearing of her two nominations this year she tweeted, "Two VMA nominations!! If you vote and get us one, I promise to keep a firmer grip on the mic this time " A coy response from Taylor, and we love it. Pretty cute too that she said "if you get US one" referring to her adoring fans, who she asks to help vote for her. Interestingly, 2009 was the last time she actually won a VMA, although she's consistently been nominated since then. We're happy to see that Taylor has seemingly gotten over the interruption, remember she even wrote a song "Innocent" about it? She claimed the process helped her put the incident behind her. Thankfully Swifty doesn't have to go up against Queen Beyoncé in any category this year. Phew. Taylor tweeted again about the VMAs saying, "So stoked to be representing the girls in an otherwise all boys category for Video of the Year at the VMAs. Vote?!" For that category she goes up against Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Bruno Mars, and Macklemore. We'll be right there with you on August 25th to find out who wins at the 2013 MTV VMAs! Keep it here for more VMA coverage, thanks for watching ClevverMusic.
