In an industry where there is absolute product parity, and challenges include maintaining growth while sustaining profit margins, and preserve loyalty where many customers own two or more sims, Safaricom came up with a product called Daktari 1525.

Daktari 1525 worked on the insight that Kenya with a population of 44 million people is served only by 5,000 doctors.

As there is a 70% mobile penetration rate in Kenya,the big idea was to make trained, certified doctors available on call 24-7.
