Company creates DVD format made to last 1000 years

Forget DVD's and Blue Ray discs. Technology company, Millenniata has created a version of the DVD called the M-Disk -- that will last for 1,000 years. This is the first-ever permanent file backup disc that lasts forever.

Traditional optical DVDs and CDs decay and breakdown over time, leaving valuable data at risk of being lost. The discs are stable up to 932 degrees Fahrenheit and were put through a series of stress tests by the U.S. Navy's Weapons. M-disks are expected to last at least 1,000 years, which is a drastic improvement compared to DVDs which last about 100 years.

Each disc is expected to cost $3 and store the same amount of data as a DVD.

Abercrombie & Fitch Offers Jersey Shore's The Situation Cash To Wear Someone Else's Clothes

A popular clothing company, Abercrombie & Fitch, is offering to pay reality TV star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and his fellow "Jersey Shore" cast members to stop wearing the brand on the show.

An company statement said, "We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans."

It is common for companies to hire celebrities to wear and promote their brand. However, in doing so, celebrities are expected to uphold the company values. Brands also work hard to protect their image and withdraw sponsorships in the event of a mishap -- the largest example of this lately was Tiger Woods scandal. Abercrombie's recent proposal is unique, but justified in order to maintain their company standards and values. However, it is interesting to note that by issuing the statement and proposing the offer to the cast of Jersey Shore, Abercrombie is generating more buzz and attention around their clothing than if they would have ignored the situation -- no pun intended.
