Chilli con carne is very popular in Britain, but our version isn't much like you would find in Texas or Mexico. Where the Tex-Mex chili con carne would use several different types of chile, and diced meat rather than ground or minced beef, the British Chilly con Carney will use only one (unnamed) type of chilli, plus we put beans in it - typically red kidney beans. And we'll probably have it with chips. However, despite its lack of authenticity, it is still a wonderful thing. And this recipe is very easy to make. In this video I show you how to make Chilli con Carne like a Brit.
The basis of this recipe is British Bolonese Sauce, and I frequently make a double quantity of that and then adapt half of it to make chilli.
