Yiruma (1978-) is a South Korean composer of 'New Age'-type piano music, and a former student of the Purcell School in the UK. He has issued several recordings and seems to be well-known in Asia and elsewhere - but not in the UK. This piece comes from the Korean 'Yiruma Piano Album'. The pieces in this book are mainly printed with just the notes - tempo, dynamic or phrsasing indications are rare and often non-existent. Maybe players of these pieces are expected to learn them mainly by ear - from Yiruma's recordings - although these sometimes depart slightly from the printed texts. However, the idiom will be familiar to anyone familiar with recent Broadway shows and pop ballads, so perhaps the notes are all that's needed. "The Moment" comes from his 2004 album 'The Yellow Room'. My thanks to YouTube member Zrshwe for bringing this music to my attention.
