The Mercatus Center at George Mason University has released "Freedom in the 50 States" (http://mercatus.org/freedom-50-states...) - a ranking that places Louisiana 35th in the nation and the least free in the South.
Fergus Hodgson, formerly of the Pelican Institute, explains why Louisiana scored so poorly (http://www.thepelicanpost.org/2011/06...) and what this means for the state's prosperity. Most notably, people are moving to freer, more prosperous states. That means Louisiana has fallen way behind in population and political representation stakes nationally.
