Samsung has released an official statement as to why Samsung was unable to use a non-pentile display in the Galaxy S3. However, Samsung has defended its use of the subpixel layout — which uses one red and one blue subpixel for every two green ones, which can cause issues with image quality and color — telling MobileBurn that it continues to use Pentile for its AMOLED displays because they tend to have a longer lifespan. But given that most users only keep a device for around two years, we have to wonder whether it's worth the trade-off of longevity for quality. Of course, Pentile displays have been less of an issue in higher resolution devices like the Galaxy Note, but for pixel enthusiasts the Galaxy S III's display may still end up being a disappointment. As our own Vlad Savov explained in a recent editorial, "Pentile displays belong in the past."

Honestly i miss S2's display.. Which was non-pentile.. It had accurate colors.. But when it was broken they replaced it with lcd screen rather than amoled/+. Now I understood otherwise i could've made an issues of it probably.. At that time.. Youtube wasnt this popular by the way.

good thing the note 2 duo don't have Pembroke matrix

lol the description makes no sense, the note have larger display and same res than galaxy s3 so s3 will be better than note

And inferior image quality, so yeah, fuck pentile, fuck the companie that invent it (I think it was Samdung), and fuck the phones that have it (saddly, the 1020 and the 930 are in that list). The real excuse is that pentile is cheaper, like samdung and it's phones ^^

So that is the positive to a pentile display. I think the Super AMOLED is the best toe of screen for a phone

Pffwhahaha, nice try, Samsung. Using silly excuses like that for a Pentile display. It's like the FXAA of anti-aliasing: it's just visually inferior to the real deal.

Hi there, is there any gs3 user here, I just want to ask have you notice any dark spot on your gs3 display when you are in a completely dark room and try to watch a completely dark image on your gs3? A further information is really helpful.
