DUNCAN - "Disappointed when I heard what happened," said Cowichan tribes councillor William Seymour. The comment come after the Minister of Education George Abbott fired nine Cowichan School Board Trustees . The decision came after the minister said any districts in the province who failed to file a balanced school board budget would be dismissed. Critics are accusing the ousted Cowichan Trustees of playing politics by submitting a budget they knew would get them fired. Members of the Cowichan Tribes are saying the move was far from political and more based on improving education for thousands of aboriginal students in the Cowichan Valley.
