We try our hand at microwave-baking a couple of mug cakes. We did have quite a bit of trouble though, so if you want to have a proper go at them, the recipes are below.
-Place 2 tablespoons of butter in a mug and microwave for 10-20 seconds -Add 2 tablespoons of caster sugar, 1 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder, and beat thoroughly with a fork until combined -Add 1 egg yolk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and beat again until combined -Add 4 tablespoons of self-raising flour, a pinch of salt, and beat again until combined -Stir in 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips -Cook in the microwave for 30 seconds (800w) -Scatter 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips on top -Cook for another 30 seconds (800w) -Leave to cool for 15 minutes
-Place 2 tablespoons of butter in a mug and microwave for 10-20 seconds -Add 1 egg, 2 tablespoons of semi-skimmed milk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and beat with a fork until thoroughly combined -Add 3 tablespoons of caster sugar, 4 tablespoons of self-raising flour, pinch of salt, and beat until smooth -Cook in the microwave for 1’15’’ (800w) -Leave to cool -In a separate bowl/mug, whip 40ml of double cream and 1 tablespoon of icing together with a fork or whisk until the mixture is creating soft peaks -Spoon 1 tablespoon of strawberry jam over the top -Add a spoonful of the icing -Top with a strawberry
