SONG: Game Over
ARTIST(S): Bobby Caldwell & Jack Splash
CONTRIBUTING: Mayer Hawthorne
CD/ALBUM TITLE: Cool Uncle [Bobby Caldwell & Jack Splash [2015]

I would have loved to been a “fly on the wall” when Contemporary jazz singer Bobby Caldwell and Jack Splash sat down to discuss the “Game Over” project. Fans of Caldwell had been patiently waiting for him to come out with some new music…and it has been delivered, awesomely I might add, through his collaboration with recording artist/musician/songwriter/producer Jack Splash on the Cool Uncle compilation. And anyone who brings in the electrifying singer/songwriter/producer Mayer Hawthorne…most definitely has a winning hit song! I’m no visionary but I can see this song climbing the charts…real soon!

Bobby Caldwell took up piano and guitar and had formed his own band at the young age of 17. His earlier music career had him covering rock songs at various clubs until he signed with TK Labels. He produced his first self-titled solo album in 1978, which listed his infamous song “What You Won’t Do For Love”. Bobby Caldwell’s music discography is vast having released a total of 16 albums throughout his career. His most recent album, After Dark, was released in 2014. When he’s not recording, you can find Bobby giving live performances both here in the U.S. and abroad.

Jack Splash is no “rookie” when it comes to writing, recording, and producing music and remains very successful in the music world. He was nominated for 10 Grammys and has rec’d 3 Grammy’s. Among the well-known Artists that Jack Splash has produced singles for include Alicia Keys, John Legend, Mayer Hawthorne, Keisha Cole, and Jennifer Hudson to name a few. Jack Splash is also the frontman for the band “PlantLife”.

Mayer Hawthorne really needs no introduction. This singer entered the music world like gangbusters in 2008 with his soul-filled music. In 2009, he debuted his album “Strange Arrangements” and has released several albums since then. Mayer quoted that he began recording his own Motown-style tracks while he had been working as a hip hop DJ. In 2011, Mayer Hawthorne was a guest of singer Daryl Hall’s LIVE from Daryl’s House webcast show where he and Memphis/Stax keyboardist/musician Booker T. Washington joined Daryl Hall in performing some of Hall’s and Washington’s songs. He was Grammy-nominated for Best Boxes/Special Limited Edition package for his album “How Do You Do”. Mayer Hawethorne credits his music influences from some of greatest soul and R&B artist such as Curtis Mayfield, Barry White, Isaac Hayes, and Smokey Robinson. His latest album titled Tuxedo was released in 2015.
