Is there anything more damaging to a floundering political campaign than being bitten by a penguin?

In a week that has already seen the candidate's mounting financial woes and Gingrich walk out of an interview with a student journalist at the University of North Carolina, he's also failed to gain the support of at least one flightless bird.

The former house speaker's beaking incident occurred during a recent visit to the St. Louis Zoo, and he has been sporting a bandage ever since. Maybe it was a message delivered on behalf of the animal kingdom? After all, Gingrich was in Missouri to speak at the National Rifle Association's annual meeting.

Lucky for Newt, it was a mere scratch, but with the GOP establishment lining up behind Mitt Romney, Gingrich's campaign can't afford to lose much more blood.
