Journalism student Hannah Kelly describes how DCU’s Access programme helped her to become the 2nd person in her family to attend university.
In 2014, Hannah Kelly became the second person in her family to attend university. Although she loved school, the idea of attending university was something that scared her. With the support of her school guidance counsellor, she applied to the DCU Access Programme and has never looked back since.
In this video, she describes how the combination of personal and financial supports provided by the DCU Access Programme have helped her to thrive in her studies and enjoy her time in DCU.
Now in the final year of her Journalism degree, Hannah is actively engaged in university life at DCU through membership of the LGBTA and Media Production Societies. She also gives talks to secondary school students on behalf of the DCU Access programme to encourage students from underrepresented communities to attend university.
