If Hornblower lived among us today he would be a social justice warrior hipster.
Alex Tocqueville
The social justice warrior/love interest angle is total anachronistic nonsense, and was also not in the book. Perhaps next Hornblower can accost the King for not mandating a minimum wage or an 8 hour work day? Or maybe sail to America, take up a black mistress and demand that George Washington free the slaves? The disastrous Quiberon Expedition of 1795 is portrayed accurately. As is the "frogs are frogs no matter their stripes" angle which permeated the British assistance in that effort. The rest is retroactive bollocks concocted by the Leftists at ITV to grovel for ratings from the average primetime viewer in the victorious 21st century era of British Socialism. This is the worst and least historical episode of an excellent series.

I aint' British. I am a globetrotter. American family and heritage, but seeing what's happening with your idiot politics (namely your ineptitude when it comes to voting. Seriously, both Bush's? WTF is wrong with you people?) so if I supported any country, it'd be New Zealand, Scotland or Ireland.

Okay, why the FUCK does every comments section on every show that involves countries OTHER then America on youtube always devolve into rampant nationalism, flag-waving, or racism? God, youtube isn't THAT infested with retarded manchildren is it? I should hope not.

I don't know if you noticed with the false Duchess of last episode, but Horatio is rather awkward around women, having spent his formative years entirely around men of the sea. And as to why she's being forward...,well look at the guy. Besides: lower-class folk were a bit more forthright in such things I imagine. Living on the average to the ripe old age of 48 will do that to you.

true but still her first wife was a lady of nobility not a normal person
