Speaking on the Senate floor on August 1, 2012, U.S. Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) called for a vote in the U.S. Senate this fall on his "Safe Chemicals Act." The legislation, which was approved by the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, is designed to protect Americans from dangerous toxic chemicals that are found in everyday consumer products.
