In February, The Pinellas County Parks and Conservation Resources department began installing 78 rip current awareness signs at Pinellas County Government operated beach parks. Rip currents can threaten any beach and occur as a result of severe weather. This public awareness effort is a partnership between Pinellas County, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Park Service and United States Lifeguard Association.
