There have been lots of concerns and comments regarding our Aquaponics system. In this video we address your questions, concerns and comments.

First we head off to get some new supplies for the Aquaponic NFT System. We have decided to cycle our system with fish in it, and to do this we need to keep a close eye on the Ammonia and Nitrate/Nitrite levels in the water, as well as the PH.

To check the Ammonia and other levels we purchase a API Master Freshwater Test Kit - http://amzn.to/2FqwTiq

This kid is a bit overwhelming to use, but it is all we have found as far as a solution to checking ammonia. If you are interested in Aquaponics you will need to be able to monitor your water, and this is a great way to do it, just a lot for a newb like myself.

I much prefer to use the Quick Strip Tests - http://amzn.to/2DL6UC7

We also purchased a Quiet Aerator - http://amzn.to/2DGjemT
And some Aquarium Salt - http://amzn.to/2FtfXId

In addition to the supplies for the fish, we purchased some potted herbs to use in the system for early filtration.

Once back to the farm, we talk about our aeration in the system, cycling the aquaponics system, and how it all is working.

Aeration is generally done with air pumps that produce small bubbles from an air stone, which are easily usable to fish. However aeration can also be done from surface agitation, which is the method we are currently using in our system.

Many people cycle their aquaponic system before they ad fish. However you can cycle the system with fish. This article helped me when I decided to start with fish - https://www.theaquaponicsource.com/bl...
