On January 12, the ABA Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) convened a panel to explore national and international judicial mechanisms to ensure accountability for atrocities. Panelists were the Honorable Patricia M. Wald, former judge from the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia; Natacha Thys, deputy director of ABA ROLI's Africa Division and manager of ABA ROLI's programs in the Democratic Republic of Congo; and Judith Armatta, lawyer, journalist and human-rights advocate, who also authored the book Twilight of Impunity: The War Crimes Trial of Slobodan Milosevic. About 40 people attended the event, which was moderated by Mary Adele Greer, ABA ROLI's senior criminal law advisor.
