West Covina Firefighters rescued a 14-year-old boy who got stuck in a drainage pipe at Gingrich Park while trying to retrieve his basketball. The boy was playing at the park when his basketball rolled into the opening of an storm water drainage pipe. The pipe is 20 inches in diameter and descends 12 to 15 feet at a 45-degree angle. He reportedly had been trapped in the pipe for about 10 minutes before his friends called 9-1-1 for help. Firefighters managed to free the teen from the pipe and pull him to freedom. The youth was otherwise unharmed. Complete video clip is over 5 minutes long
