Excellent review. Crisp, no nonsense, and to the point. Albeit Vuurwapenblog's review of the HFN-9 is six years old, I found it to be timeless. Well, done sir. A credit to a fine pistol.

Watching this over 2 years after you posted, FN has just won a US military cotract. For the M4, underbidding Colt. You are prescient, sir.

Most tactical trainers, law enforcement officers, military men, etc. recommend that you manually rack the slide on a reload. It uses gross motor skills instead of the fine motor skills needed to hit the slide release. As shown by you missing it the first time, in a heated combat situation, you most likely will not be able to do that reliably. Racking the slide will always be reliable because it takes less focus.

Held one in the gun store. It reminded me of a Ruger p95.Nice but a bit large for concealed carry I.M.O. I never fired this gun but it seemed kind of toy-like to me, but, I'm sure it is a fine shooting weapon.I can't afford to own a whole bunch of pistols, so I went with the jack of all trade, one gun work-horse, the Glock 19.

GREAT review, wish I would of seen this before I bought out (3 weeks ago). But I love the FNX-9 and others should too. This guy identifies EVERYTHING you need to know before buying.

i carry first pull double then single after, but given the time i would always cock it with my thumb so the first shot is single as well, thanks

I'm actually hoping FNH goes ahead with attempting to submit this as a replacement for service pistols. It's a good pistol and I like the way FNH seems to be going about it. I snagged one of these with the Mil/LEO discount and they give me 4 magazines of the box and a free Galco holster. The issues other users have stated are present, namely the strong spring, which I highly recommend just locking the slide back for a few days.
