Chapter 6 of 280 of Paul Hodge's November, 2012 video book "How to Go Solo Around the World in 47 Days" chronicles Paul's May 5th exploration of the area of Santiago, Chile near the University of Chile where students are protesting in favor of legalizing marijuana production and sale. This student protest is part of the general student unrest which has gained national/international attention. Recently, there were major protests by students, parents and teachers demanding reforms of the government education policies. Student protests will persist as long as the government refuses to make the meaningful reforms necessary to improve the Chilean educational system. The trip was fantastic because Paul covered seldom viewed events/sites such as riots and protests in Chile, Argentina & Spain, Soweto where South Africa's freedom movement began, gold machines in Abu Dhabi, Jerusalem/the West Bank & the Wailing Wall, the historic Egyptian Presidential elections, up close with Queen Elizabeth & her Diamond Jubilee celebration, the changing of the guard ceremony in Beijing's Tiananmen Square, the Great Wall and many other exciting seldom scene events.
Throughout his adventure, Paul penned incisive, compelling commentaries with fresh perspectives on the socio-economic & political challenges facing the diverse nations/cultures he explored. The commentaries will be expanded upon and incorporated in Paul's upcoming book, See Commentaries at: http://genpolicy.com/blog.
