The dolphin hunters in Taiji are concerned that their faces may be seen by others. I caught the hunters returning from a slaughter in the Cove.
When I went to the police I was requested to go to the neighboring town of Shingu. After showing them this video, Officer Sakai arrested me and berated me for about two hours telling me it was my fault. Apparently in Japan, dolphin hunters have the right to hit you in the face if you take their video in a national park.
I was finally released after calls were placed to a Japanese friend who promised that I would leave Taiji immediately. I was released and I left.
If you or anyone you know goes to Taiji, please imagine and create a new way for this town. It need not always be a backward safe haven for dolphin hunters.
