CIPE Afghanistan's Tashabos program and Program Director Mohammad Nasib were featured on Britains Sky News daily newscasts the week of August 24, 2009. CIPEs Tashabos entrepreneurship education program is having an extremely positive impact on the future prospects of young people in Afghanistan. With the business skills they learn in the curriculum, young Afghan entrepreneurs are starting new businesses and contributing to the growth of their families' businesses.
The textbook, often the only one students get to keep, explains concepts such as capital, investment, risk, demand, and lending through the story of a married couple who capitalize on the wifes knitting and design skills to expand into a full-scale manufacturing enterprise. The materials provide students with an understanding of the business skills they need to participate in a market economy. Students explore the barriers the couple faces along the way and the methods they use to achieve success.
