Destination: awesome Philippines. Our ride? The new music video of Apl.de.ap for his latest single Take U to the Philippines. Coming from his previous single about his homeland, The Apl Song, Take U to the Philippines brings the beat back to where the music meets the many marvels of the orient pearl.
Upbeat, hip, and most of all, true—things that you would feel when you view the video, which is more than just dance material. Still a narrative about Apls travels, the video contains lyrics that give all the local texture when thinking about tourist destinations—water so warm, the parties in Manila, the grand villas, the rides that take you to your desired destination.
Directed by Andrew Lo, creative director of MTV Asia, the video was the result of the collaboration of MTV and We Are Royal, alongside Apl who worked closely with the Department of Tourism secretary Ace Durano. Behind the mixed motion graphics that stylized the video was The Source, a renowned studio in Hollywood.
In a way, its like one of those choose your own adventure books. Except this one opens the Philippines to the global community. And what a world of possibilities the video offers—a full bathing in crisp local experience.
It was as if Apl wanted the elements of the video to reflect the beauty of the Philippines. With the many destinations that he included in the video, he was determined to make the countrys many sites shine through the song.
