Six years ago Cork City Fire Brigade Firefighters Joe O'Toole and Peter Pasley came up with a great idea. They decided that they would build a trainset layout with track, station, platform, fire station, tunnel, bridge, town and much much more. So if you should go down to Wilton Shopping Centre in Cork today you will be in for a nice surprise. This years train is the fifth construction that Joe O'Toole has undertaken. He begins building the train set from scratch in February and in his spare time from work in the Brigade he has it all ready and pristine for the raffle in December. The Brigade Sports and Social Club funds the purchase of all the materials and train sets that Joe uses during construction. Joe and his colleague volunteers have raised One Hundred Thousand Euro over the past four years and they are confident that they will raise losts of money again this year. The Childrens Leukaemia Association will be sharing this years collection with Temple Street Hospital in Dublin. Full praise to our Unsung Heroes of the Cork City Fire Brigade and may we wish them continued success with this laudable venture.
