Game controversy

Man gets 27 for killing infant during game

Study proves conclusively that violent game play makes more aggressive kids

"We can now say with utmost confidence that regardless of research method -- that is experimental, correlational, or longitudinal -- & regardless of the cultures tested in this study [East & West], you get the same effects," said &erson, who is also director of Iowa State's Center for the Study of Violence. "& the effects are that exposure to violent games increases the likelihood of aggressive behavior in both short-term & long-term contexts. Such exposure also increases ***aggressive thinking*** & aggressive affect, & decreases prosocial behavior."
"Just like your child's diet & the foods you have available for them to eat in the house, you should be able to control the content of the games they have available to play in your home," he said. "& you should be able to explain to them why certain kinds of games are not allowed in the house -- conveying your own values. You should ***convey the message that one should always be looking for more constructive solutions to disagreements & conflict."***

According to Nielsen Media Research, the average kid watches over 19 hours of television a week, & 81% of that time, it is unsupervised. By the time the average U.S. kid starts elementary school he or she will have seen 8,000 murders & 100,000 acts of violence on TV.
