The Agni-5 Ballistic Missile is currently India's longest range Ballistic Missile tested so far. Capable of carrying a 1000 kg Nuclear warhead, it has been said to be able to reach targets 5500 kms away. This essentially brings the whole of Madagascar & East Timor under the reach of India's missile arsenal, as also the People's Republic of China.
The missile made its maiden test launch on April 19, 2012 at around 08:05 AM from the Wheeler Island test range in the Easter Indian state of Odisha [formerly Orissa].
