Introducing Deep Ocean Safari, an interactive ocean literacy project produced by EnTCo's The Ride Works. This has been a collaborative project between industry, The Ride Works, and the subject matter expertise of NOAAs National Marine Sanctuary Program (NMSP) and Philippe Cousteaus EarthEcho International. It is our hope that projects like this will engage a whole new generation in ocean education.

Deep Ocean Safari is a real time interactive virtual dive where one player pilots the submersible and one or more others use cameras to capture their own images of the wildlife they encounter under the waves. Philippe Cousteau and NMSPs Michiko Martin, an accomplished oceanographer and educator with NOAA, team up to narrate the adventure with fun and useful guidance and important ocean literacy messages. The visual imagery is a true to life representation of those species found in and around the four National Marine Sanctuaries off the coast of California. Deep Ocean Safari can be experienced in a variety of ways, including motion simulators and coin-operated kiosks at zoos, aquariums, science centers and other locations coming this year. This new type of digital experience lets people become part of an engaging story about everyone's connection to the ocean. Their photos can become souvenirs of their unique dive in a US national treasure.
