Whiteboard animation developed by WHO as part of the online tool: Adolescent HIV testing, counselling and care: From guidance to action. It provides a clear and simple explanation of the function of the immune system, how HIV affects immune responses, and how antiretroviral therapy (ART) works to counteract HIV. It also emphasizes the importance of adhering to ART in order to avoid drug resistance.

The animation is dedicated to Bongeka Ndlovu, a young woman from Kwazulu Natal, South Africa who provided initial comments to the script and animation. Unfortunately Bongeka passed away before the production was completed.

Special thanks to:
• Young people and staff from Whizzkids United
• Malia Duffy -- John Snow Institute
• Nicola Willis -- Africaid Zvandiri Programme
• Catriona Ross -- Central and North West London, NHS Foundation Trust
