September 11th, 2001 was a day that changed the world. For one New York City police detective who moonlights as a still photographer, it was a day that changed his career, his marriage and his life. This is the story of John Botte, a former NYPD police officer and detective who took some of the most haunting images of the 9/11 disaster at Ground Zero. I met John Botte in Germany in 2002, just months after he was at Ground Zero. I met up with him four years and a lifetime later. One of the most interesting people I've met through my career.
